The One where we wish we were in AZ...

I realize now how spoiled we were to live in Old Town Scottsdale. I never appreciated how many great places there was to go to eat, shop, drink, people watch - so here is my "Top Ten Places I Miss in Arizona"

AZ 88 - the chicken sandwich and their martinis

Their Wine List

Postino's Bruchetta

Kona Grill Happy Hour

Fashion Square (esp. Nordstroms)

Chaparral Park - running around the lake with the dogs

Pita Jungle - Chicken Shwarma

zTejas's Chambord Margaritas then shopping
Seriously, people in Scottsdale should consider themselves the luckiest people on the planet because I have about thirty other places I miss on another list!
If one of these places came here (ABQ) the turkey's would go wild!

The One with the DoubleTree Hotel

Yea! I have a job at the DoubleTree Hotel in Downtown ABQ {never thought I would say those words...ever}!

I also have been using public transportation {never thought I would do that too}!

So each day I get up at 5:45 am - and catch the 7:15 am bus or train and get to read and relax until I get to DT at 7:35 am; then I work then catch the 5:15 pm bus or train and get home by 5:45 pm - I LOVE IT!!!

Since people here in ABQ drive like they are on a mission to die, I like my BIG safe transportation very much.

Also, it's a very green way to travel...

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta 2010

Brad with Darth Vader - it took a crew of people over one hour to inflate!

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is a world-renowned attraction and destination for kids of all ages. For more than three decades, the first week in October brings the smell of roasting chiles and the beautiful, magical moving picture show of hot air balloons sailing silently through the crisp fall air.

The Middle Bee is Michael Glen, 35, took his first hot air balloon ride at 2 weeks old, safely cradled in his mom's arms. Growing up in Roswell, N.M., he caught the ballooning bug big time from his parents. Nothing beats seeing the majestic Southwest from a soundless, floating basket.
But at 21, his dreams were temporarily grounded. His car rolled over, sending Glen — who wasn't wearing a seat belt — flying out the window. He was left paralyzed from the waist down.

Glen believed his wheelchair was irrelevant. So he took to the skies and logged 24 hours of flight time, more than double the amount required for a license.

He became the world's first and only paraplegic hot air balloon pilot in April 2006, and now he launches his rainbow-colored balloon "Elevation II" around the country, as an inspiration for all. "I wanted to achieve my dream," he said. "I'm the only [paraplegic] guy in the world who can do it. I decided to do good with that, trying to spread my message about reaching goals, achieving dreams and seat belt safety."
